Abie Straps and Shutterbag

Have you had your eye on our new navy Safari? It is a gorgeous color! I have been carrying this bag daily since we got them in.  I get a ton of compliments on it, too.

Imagine how excited I was to see a camera strap that matched it.  Not just any camera strap, either.  It is an Abie Strap.  The “Lexus of camera straps” (dubbed by Professional Photographer Magazine) are just gorgeous.  The newest design is this beautiful navy combined with blues and design is just fantastic.

Check it out here next to our navy Safari.

Told you she was gorgeous!

Abie Straps

Want to know more about Abie Straps? Here is a little bit about them from their website:

Abie Straps is a business created by professional wedding and portrait photographer Ellen LeRoy, who lives and works on the outer banks of North Carolina in the small town of Emerald Isle.  She was one of the first to create camera straps that reflect the style and personality of the photographer and her company continues to produce the highest quality straps that exist in that niche.  Ellen believes your straps should help brand you rather than your camera manufacturer.  She also aims to have straps that are comfortable, durable, and practical as well as beautiful.

While Ellen continues to support her family through her photography career, Abie Straps has become her personal mission project, and ALL the profits from the business are donated to help the needy all around the world.  Money from Abie Straps has been used to support Susan Komen for the Cure, World Vision, Red Cross Disaster Relief, Mercy Ships, and other reputable charities.  Ellen involves her children and husband in choosing the charities as well as Abie Straps' guest designers and even clients with inspirational stories.

They make quite the pair, don’t they? I don’t think they should be separated, do you?

So I guess we will have to give them BOTH away to one lucky random winner!!!!!!

Good luck!  The giveaway ends 11/19/13 at 11:59 PM EST.

I cannot believe that tomorrow is the start of November.  This year has really flown by.  I know people say that often, but it honestly feels that way.

Here in the U.S. we usually take time to reflect and be thankful around Thanksgiving. I know what you are thinking, “Duh Kim, it is Thanksgiving.  That is what you are supposed to do.”

But what if you were mindful about all month long?  What if you made a point to document the things you are grateful for?  What if you purposefully photographed all of the daily reasons you were thankful next month?   The little things like the warm coffee mug in your hands on a chilly morning. And especially the big things like family and friends.

We are all so blessed and fortunate to be living the lives we do.  Take the time for just one moment and snap a photo of what you are thankful for.  The thing you are thankful for in that fleeting moment or the thing you are thankful for every second.

30thankful days

No need for a fancy camera, elaborate editing, or anything along those lines.  This is a personal project not a contest.  Use your phone, use your point and shoot, or use your DSLR (I will use my mirrorless Winking smile), but be mindful of that photo and reflect on why and how you are thankful.

When you have done that, I would love it if you would share your thankful journey along with me over on Instagram. Use the hashtag #30thankfuldays

Courtney, from Click It Up a Notch, and I will be documenting our 30 Thankful Days on Instagram.  You can follow us on Instagram even if you decide not to join in. Feel free to jump in anytime along the way.  No one is keeping track how many days you do it.

Sweet Nectar Society

When I attended WPPI I had the pleasure of meeting so many fabulous people in the industry.  My head still spins and I am star struck by some of them. But during a dinner for fellow Clickin Moms to meet up and meet in real life I met two amazing women.  Carrie and Brittany started a non-profit organization called Sweet Nectar Society.

They provide families with portraits for their children. Not just any children.  Children that have a difficult diagnosis, children undergoing harsh therapies, children that are faced to look at grown up words like cancer, leukemia, cerebral palsy, and the list goes on.

These children are beautiful and Sweet Nectar Society captures that beauty long with their strength and courage while building hope.

SHUTTER|bag is so proud to donate a percentage of all sales to Sweet Nectar Society.  They are touching lives, preserving moments, and giving hope.  If you would like to learn more about Sweet Nectar Society, what they do, or how you can help please check out their website.

I encourage you to find out how you can help others in your community. Prayer always helps, too.

The Girls Day Out

By now you may have already heard all about the Girls Day Out design.  I am so excited about its debut.  We teamed up with the fabulous ladies over at Clickin Moms to offer exclusive colors of Emerald Green and Smoky Gray.

Check out these gorgeous things!

There are actually three SEPARATE compartments in this bag.  So you can grab a diaper, or even get your wallet out without anyone ever seeing your camera gear.  Kids can grab the iPad to keep themselves entertained without ever opening up the section with your camera in it!  This bag is great for every day use, and even better for travel.  Imagine shopping in a street market and no one seeing the expensive equipment you have on you.

You can purchase the Girls Day Out in the beautiful, bold green or the rich, sophisticated gray over at Clickin Moms. But hurry, because I don’t think these are going to last long!

Not sure if the Girls Day will fit your gear or is for you?  Check out this horrible video I did of the bag.

An Official Blog

You may or may not know this, but I was a blogger for years before signing on with Shutterbag.  I know you are probably thinking why I didn’t start one sooner then.  I really did not know where I wanted to go with the blog and what I wanted to do with it.  So the plan right now is to post tutorials, guest posts, interviews, feature our favorites in the industry, and of course share sale and releases of new Shutterbag designs.

So please feel free to subscribe to the blog by email (off to the right side) or sign up for our newsletter on the homepage at

Stay tuned!!
